Hello!
This week we will begin our 26 school day countdown until summer break! Thursday, April 21st will be A-Day. We are still in high need of snack donations! Please click this link to sign up for a day. If you've already signed up for a day and you'd like to donate another snack, go ahead and sign up for as many as you'd like! Additionally, I'd love someone to create a new door decoration for the end of the school year! It can be a school day countdown, or a spring/summer theme. If you're interested in decorating our door, please send me an email. I will also send home a paper copy of our A-Z days for your reference at home. As always, if you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to me via email! Enjoy this lovely weather today! Ms. Hansen Welcome back!
It was so good to see all the students this morning! It seems like many of the kids had an excellent, rejuvenating break. Expect a few different reminders to come home in your child's BEE folder today. There are quite a few events coming up as we approach the end of the school year. Also, I plan on doing an ABC end-of-the-school year event, so please keep your eye out for an email from me later this week with more details! Take a look at the literacy tab for more information regarding your child's education this week! Thanks and have a fantastic week! Ms. Hansen Hello!
Last week it looked like my website did not update properly. Sorry about that! The post from last week is now posted below. We are in need of a few supplies in our classroom! We use these supplies daily, which is why we run out quickly! Here is a list of some things we are very low on:
This weekend is the Veteran's 5K at WPA! I will be participating in the race, and I'd love for our class to join! Registration links can be found in the Wednesday note. It is about $15 to sign up and students have the opportunity to raise money to pay for their registration fees. Proceeds will go to help animals assist veterans! Hope to see you there! Grades were finalized for term 3 last week. I will do a better job this term of keeping student grades up-to-date in Aspire! If you ever have questions concerning your child's grades or participation in class, send me an email! I'm happy to discuss any questions you may have. Thanks for checking my website! Have a great week! Ms. Hansen Hello!
Thank you to those of you who signed up for parent/teacher conferences! It is always so good to talk to each of you about your child's progress in class. If you have further questions, or you forgot to mention something, please feel free to send me an email (or Mrs. Hunsaker). With the fluctuation of spring weather, please continue sending your child to school with a jacket. Please check out the literacy, math, and homeroom tabs! Students in Ms. Hansen's literacy class will not be getting spelling words this week, so please visit the literacy tab for further information. I appreciate all of you! Thank you so much for all you are doing for your child! Ms. Hansen and Mrs. Hunsaker Happy Valentine's Day!
Thank you so much to those of you who helped out for our Valentine's Day celebration! You made the day successful! Parent-teacher conferences are on Wednesday, March 3rd. Mrs. Hunsaker and I will only be available on Wednesday, so if you'd like to meet, please sign up as soon as possible. The link was sent to you in the Wednesday note. That's all I have for this week! Remember that there is no school on Friday, February 18th and Monday, February 21st. Have a great week! Ms. Hansen and Mrs. Hunsaker Hello!
We are still looking for a volunteer to create an activity and run the activity during our Valentine's Day party this Friday. Please sign up if you'd like to get some volunteer hours!! Here is the volunteer sign up page. This year, WPA is allowing Valentine's Day boxes. Students are not required to bring them; however, if creating a box will bring your child joy, he or she is more than welcome to bring the box to school! If you don't have the time or energy to help your child make a box, just know that we will be providing bags for all students who do not have boxes for the Valentine's Day party. There are 25 students in homeroom. Here is a list of first names: Louieve Claire Porter Kash Jack Levi Damian J. Mallory Gideon Maysie Kasen Teagan Bennett Vienna Hannah Varshika Damian S. Birdie Bhavin Ollie Henry Noah Momo Cecilia Tanner There are several students who do not have functioning headphones. Please ask your child if his/her headphones are working. If possible, please send your child to school with new headphones. Alternatively, we could use some headphone donations if you are able to donate! Thank you for your time! Have a great day! Ms. Hansen and Mrs. Hunsaker Hi, Families!
Post Office Week is next week (February 7th to 11th). Also, candy grams begin tomorrow. If your child would like to send a candy gram to a friend, it costs $1. Keep in mind that student council does not offer change, so exact dollar amounts are needed. After weeks of contemplation, I decided to teach part-time for the rest of the school year. I will continue to teach literacy in the morning; however, I will no longer be teaching math and homeroom in the afternoon. Mrs. Hunsaker will be taking over math and homeroom starting Wednesday, February 2, 2022. She is amazing and so patient with the kids. I believe she is going to be the perfect fit for our math, science, and social studies classes! We are going to use the same website for simplicity for you all. When you visit the math and homeroom tabs, just recall that the class is taught by Mrs. Hunsaker. She will be sending out a family letter soon. On that letter, she will attach her email. Let me know if you have any questions! It hurts my heart to leave these wonderful kids. I'm just thankful that I still get to interact with them during literacy! Thanks again for all of your support thus far. It means so much to me. Have a wonderful day, Ms. Hansen Hi!
I apologize that I haven't been updating my website recently! I will be sure to update my website the first day of the week from now on. Middle of the year testing is for the most part complete! I am proud of the reading and mathematical progress each student has made. Thank you so much for working with your children at home. Bridging the connection between school and home is so important for children at this age! I created a Donor's Choose page! Any donations made to the website will be matched up to $50. I added a lot to the donations list because the USBE is giving out large donations to teachers who apply for the grant. Since my donation list is greater than what the grant is worth, please considering donating to our classroom! Here is the link. Type LIFTOFF to get up to $50 matched from Donors Choose! I hope you all have a great week! Thank you for visiting our class website. Please look at the literacy and math tabs for further information on the topics we will cover this week. Ms. Hansen Welcome back!!! I am so thankful to have a supportive group of students and families during the holidays and throughout the school year. Thank you so much for everything you're doing for our classroom and our school. Hopefully the break gave you all a chance to reset and enjoy some family time.
With a new year comes some new changes to our classroom! I made a video that describes our new spelling list routine. Please take a look at the "literacy" tab and watch the short video if your child is in my literacy class. Also, another rule I am altering for the second half of the school year is allowing personal pencil sharpeners. If your children have a pencil sharpener they would like to keep in their desks, they are more than welcome to use it during class. We current share pencils, and I think it'd be helpful in reducing the spread of germs. That's all I have for general updates! Please check out the literacy, math, and homeroom tabs for more specific information. Thank you!!! Ms. Hansen Hello, families!
Donations/volunteer opportunities We are in need of a few items for our classroom. I will add these donation/volunteer opportunities to the sign-up genius. Here is a list of needed donation items:
Additionally, registration for next year is open! Please see the message below that was in the Wednesday note last week. "It is that time of year where families with students with students in grades K-5 declare their intent for enrollment next year. When you log in to your parent Aspire account you will see a blue flag that says “can register for grade _”. You will find this link below their name and student lunch number. Please click on this link and complete the registration process for next year. You will need to complete this process for each student you have currently attending Wasatch Peak Academy. You will know your registration is complete if you log back into your parent aspire homepage and the blue flag has disappeared. If you still see the link, your registration is not quite finished. In order to get an accurate count for students next year we would like you to complete this as soon as possible. Please have your registration complete by the end of the month. We understand circumstances change and your registration status may change. If this arises, please contact the front office so we can adjust as needed. Please note, this process does not include siblings of students who will be attending Wasatch Peak Academy next year. That enrollment will happen later. If you have any questions, please email Jaimee Shepard at [email protected]." Two more weeks until Christmas break already! We are going to work so hard these next two weeks to learn so much before the long break. Keep reading at home with your children! Happy Holidays, Ms. Hansen |
